Vodafone donates incubators to Dormaa hospital | 25th September, 2015

In an effort to help reduce infant mortality in Ghana, telecommunication giant, Vodafone Ghana has donated two incubators to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in Dormaa, Brong Ahafo Region to improve the health of new born babies.

The incubators, will assist the hospital to effectively manage the increasing number of premature births recorded at the health facility every year.

Commenting on the philanthropic gesture, Nana Yaa Ofori Koree, Foundation and Sustainability Manager at Vodafone Ghana, said:

“Statistics available indicate that infant mortality is alarming countrywide, especially in rural areas. The situation requires corporate Ghana to step in to help improve the situation. At Vodafone, we are passionate about championing health issues. Donating these incubators will relieve the anxiety of health professionals at this hospital and parents who have to care for pre-term babies.”

She indicated that Vodafone has implemented ingenious initiatives like Healthfest, Healthline, Healthline 255, blood donation exercise among others, to give back to the communities where their staff live and work.

Receiving the incubators, Dr Isaac Appiah, General Manager of the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, said it is timely and will be put to good use. He expressed the hospital’s appreciation of Vodafone’s incredible gesture.

Dr. Appiah called on other organizations and corporate institutions to emulate the shining example of Vodafone.
