Take good care of oral health - Mrs. Kelly- Mensah | 20th March, 2018

World Oral Health Day is observed annually on 20th March, and launches a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene so that governments, health associations and the general public can work together to achieve healthier breath and a happier life.

Ghanahospitals.org Coordinator, Cecilia Kelly Mensah disclosed in an interview that bad breath limits the confidence level of people, and advises the general public to take very good care of their oral health.

She added that, today being world oral health day people should put into consideration how to keep themselves well, especially the teeth and tongue, adding that it is advisable to brush the teeth and clean the tongue twice a day.

However she advises that, anytime you finish eating and the environment does not permit you to brush your teeth, you should try and rinse your mouth with water or put a mint or a gum into mouth to prevent bad breath, adding that proper attention to the ear, nose and throat can also help reduce bad breath.

Mrs. Kelly Mensah indicated that a person can equally do a self check by breathing out or saying “aahh” to let out breath to see if they have bad breath before talking to someone close, in order not to embarrass yourselves.

However, the public expresses difficulty in pointing out bad breath to victims, because they sometimes find it difficult to accept that they have it.
